17 nov. Glasgow Academy Choir
The Sound of Scotland in Barcelona
On October 17th, for the first time in its history, St. Paul’s received a visit from a real Scottish pipe band. The band was made up of pupils from Glasgow Academy, a secondary school in Scotland, who, together with the school choir, were combining a cultural visit to Cataluña with giving a series of concerts.
Glasgow Academy was founded in 1847 and caters for children from the age of 3 to 18. It has a long tradition of music, with some 500 pupils receiving instrumental lessons every week. Music is taught at all stages throughout the school from Nursery/Kindergarten right the way through to the Senior School.
The school’s repertoire included a selection of traditional Scottish songs as well as religious and contemporary pieces. The highlight of the performance was a solo on the drums by one of the members of the pipe band!
